Aus dem Leben eines Taugenichts
Greetings from a German Taugenichts (spalpeen) based in Belfast. During my 20 years of living in Titanic Town, I've been a student, a researcher,
a historian, a web content editor, a project manager, a creative, a dreamer, a writer...add singer and dancer, and you
get the picture. But right at the moment, I am trying to live the dream of being my own boss - a dream that has its ups
and downs, is both exciting and scary, but is finally me.
When I was unemployed three years ago, I wrote a (yet unpublished)
novel called Broke in Belfast. Now that I am a 'scrounger' again, I thought of amusing myself and launch a website,
telling my tale about escaping the 9 to 5 routine that wasn't me, and possibly attracting a curious publisher or people in
the creative field who might offer me work as a freelance web writer. So this is a showcase of me, my work, and my ideas on
work, life, Belfast and much more, displayed on the canvas of a changing Belfast, with its wheel going up and down like
a wheel of fortune...or like life in general.

| Make new from old... |
Some of this site is in German, since that's what I am, and I enjoy writing
in both languages, although English is now my native tongue, and my German is both antiquated in parts, and slightly 'Dinglish'
(German-English). Yes, the German spelling reform never reached me here!
Of course there will be clashes both in language
and nature. Belfast apathy is always at war with my German nature, no matter how much I keep telling myself that I am probably
not the best example for German efficiency and orderliness. But the result of this clash is certainly very productive, and
definitely entertaining.
